QUICK FACTS NEED TO KNOW FOR PUJA SPECIAL SILK ROUTE TOUR PACKAGES |
- The Silk Route is a beautiful but remote offbeat destination in Sikkim, offering a unique travel experience with limited modern facilities. If you’re planning to join the Silk Route Puja Special Package Tour, it’s important to understand a few basic things before you go.
- When you book a Silk Route Durga Puja Special Package Tour, please remember that this is not a luxury trip. The places you will visit are small, remote villages with basic facilities. You will get essentials like western toilets, running water, and hot meals (usually egg curry and local vegetables), but don’t expect modern comforts like TV, internet, geysers, or bottled mineral water.
- Nathang Valley, located at 13,200 ft, is one of the highlights of the Silk Route, often called the “Ladakh of East India” because of its stunning landscapes. However, due to the high altitude and cold weather, it’s not suitable for young children or elderly travelers to stay overnight. Visitors may feel dizzy, get headaches, or feel sick because of the thin air. The temperature can drop below zero at night. We suggest that older travelers visit Nathang during the day and return to lower altitudes afterward. It’s also a good idea to carry a portable oxygen cylinder for safety.
- For your Silk Route Puja Special Tour from Kolkata, carry original and photocopies of ID proofs like voter ID, passport, or driver’s license, and at least two passport-size photos. If you’re traveling with kids, bring their birth certificates or school IDs.
- Be prepared for emergencies during your Silk Route Durga Puja Packages. Pack essentials like dry fruits, nuts, chocolates, hot coffee, ginger cubes, and biscuits. These are useful during sudden weather changes, roadblocks, or landslides. Also, carry a portable oxygen cylinder and oxygen meter. In case of serious problems, help from the Indian Army or BRO (Border Roads Organisation) is available. For high-altitude places like Gnathang Valley, Elephant Lake, and Kupup, carry camphor, chocolates, and ginger cubes to help with breathing. Don’t forget your regular medicines if you’re on any.
- Also, bring a first aid kit with common medicines for fever, cold, cough, headaches, stomach upset, and pain relief (like paracetamol, ointments, band-aids, and Vaseline. Pack enough woolen clothes, gloves, caps, and windcheaters, as the temperature can drop very low. Carry enough cash in small notes, because there are no ATMs after Rongli, and ATM links may not work in remote areas. It’s best to withdraw cash from NJP or Bagdogra. Also, note that GST will apply to your Silk Route tour package cost.
- If you’re a biker, make sure all your vehicle documents are in order. Missing papers can cause trouble during your trip. We also advise against drinking alcohol at high altitudes, but if you want to carry some, bring your preferred brand from home, as choices are limited in these areas. In lower regions like Sillerygaon, Ramdhura, or Rongpokhola, be careful of leeches. Also, remember that Sikkim is a plastic-free state, so please don’t litter.
- Most importantly, enjoy your Puja Special Silk Route Package Tour with Adorable Vacation. Don’t worry too much—just relax and take in the natural beauty of this amazing journey.
